New Winter Journey
Aleksander Dębicz – piano
Programme which refers to Franz Schubert’s song cycle and introduces the audience to the variety of Romantic musical forms. The artists based it on the form of a song, however their approach was unconventional. While recalling the song structure, they focused on “songs without words”, having replaced human voice with an instrument. Schubert’s famous work begins with a lyrical tone. So does theNew Winter Journey, in which Marcin Zdunik and Aleksander Dębicz start the programme with the transcription of Gute Nacht – a song openingWinterreise. The composition serves as an introduction to a set of improvised songs-ballads. Their style refers to music of various composers who implemented the idea of romanticism in their works – Schubert, Brahms, Wagner, Schönberg, Rachmaninoff and Gershwin. The programme is intended to encourage the listeners to examine their emotions and discover romanticism hidden in each of us.
